Poem- Our Beloved

Weep not for our beloved,
For she is only asleep.
Shed no tears for our beloved,
For her spirit lives on, in and amongst us.

Weep not for our beloved.
She has moved on to a better place
That mansion over yonder, beyond those pearly white gates.
Weep not for our beloved.

Life is most precious.
Oftentimes taken for granted.
Life is so fragile
Like the grass, one moment we stand tall blowing in the wind and the world is at our beck and call.
The next minute we wither and perish.

Weep not for our beloved.
For this is her season.
To be at rest, escaping all of life’s stress.
Instead, let’s celebrate the life of our beloved.

Her life was a gift to us.
A flower, a precious and delicate rose, from the Lord’s garden.
What a life she lived!
A life lived to its fullest. Soft-spoken and lady-like.

A life dedicated to the service of God.
A life of servitude to church and humanity.
She was most generous.  Weep not for our beloved.
Today, we give God thanks for the life of our beloved.

Indeed, we are sad!
Many are heartbroken, while others will question, “why Lord”?
She has only changed address.
Our beloved is at rest.  Looking down on us, smiling.
We can hear her say, “weep not”

Do you hear the words?
“Good and faithful servant”
Listen again, yes, those very same words.
Weep not for our beloved.

We too will join her one day.
Everlasting life is God’s promise to all who will obey.
Let us cheer each other up on this day
Perhaps with a smile,
a hug, a few words of encouragement, or a handshake.

Weep not for our beloved.
Weep not for our beloved.
She stayed the course.
Her presence was needed elsewhere.
I know you all agree.

God called, “my beloved child it’s time to come home.”
That she did as an obedient child of God.
Weep not for her.  She is with her Heavenly Father.
Rest in peace our beloved Aunt Grant.
