Say No To Vain Living

New Years Sunday Sermon
Bible Verse- Psalm chapter 127 verses 1&2
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman watcheth but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Theme: Say No To Vain Living.
Many of us are currently living a vain life. A life without God is an empty, fruitless and useless one. We can and should examine our own lives to see whether or not we are living an empty life. If our life is primarily concerned with superficial issues while excluding God then we are guilty of such. Are you concerned with how many followers you have on Social Media? Are you concerned with your looks? Are you spending less and less time reading the word of God? Are you spending less time in worship to God? If you answer in the affirmative, then you too are guilty of this. I know it is not easy in this world to remain focus. However, we can only pray daily to God to ask for His help to stay focus.
For 2016 let us recommit ourselves to worship God in order to escape vain living. Let us work towards living a God-centered life in the name of Jesus.

The summer holidays are now over, yet the narrative associated with the ‘dunce’ labeled knapsacks has carried over into the new academic year. We often underestimate the power and force of our popular culture to our detriment. “Indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”- Psalm 121:4. It appears we have been hearing about the Arab/Israeli conflict from time immemorial. However, it is important that some historical and Biblical context be interjected into the narrative in order for a better understanding of this current war. In the Bible, the phrase ‘Promised Land’ refers to a specific region of land that God promised to his chosen people of Israel. God first gave this pledge of land to Abraham saying, “I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River.” This pledge was reiterated to Abraham’s descendants until the time came for His people to claim their inheritance.
